Site start for Berlin City Library (Berliner Stadtbibliothek)
The refurbishment of the Berlin Library progressed this month with the start of
building works on site. In 2014, Hoskins Architects won an invited competition to redesign the public areas of the
Berlin City Library, including the foyer space, reception desks, press area and
a new café bar. The proposed design is based on the historic character of the
building, with clear zoning and new architectural interventions designed to
complement the historic interior. The building will remain open during the
refurbishment period with completion planned for July 2015.
